The Baffler

The Baffler is a magazine of cultural, political, and business criticism that was established in 1988 in Chicago. After a brief hiatus, the first issue of Volume 2 was published in January 2010, and I was excited to be invited to participate.

For my contribution, I made a series of parody PowerPoint slides and graphics that commented on the role of large financial institutions in the financial crisis alongside the loosening of gun laws across the country. My source materials were change management brochures, human resources materials for active shooter incidents, internal layoff memos, and advertising materials for armored cars. The apocalyptic narrative that resulted after it was assembled still makes me shudder.
